Synopsis
Mujer Transparente is composed of five episodes that portray different dimensions of female experience in Cuba. Through the stories of Isabel, Adriana, Julia, Zoe and Laura, the film explores issues such as loneliness in old age, domestic frustration, emotional self-deception, migration and ideological prejudice. Each narrative offers an introspective perspective on the limitations imposed by society and on the individual search for freedom. Considered a pioneering work in the treatment of women’s issues within Cuban cinema, the film marked a turning point in the representation of women on screen and opened the way for new gender-focused discourses.
