What is DELE Certification?

These diplomas are official credentials that attest to the level of proficiency and command of the Spanish language, awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Spain.

The Instituto Cervantes is responsible for the management of the DELE diplomas. The exams are designed following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and the Manual for Relating Exams to the CEFR, both works of the Council of Europe.

The repertoire of linguistic content that may be included in the DELE exams is outlined in the document “Curriculum Plan of the Instituto Cervantes. Reference Levels for Spanish (NRE),” developed by the Instituto Cervantes based on the descriptors of the CEFR.
